Week 12: Baby Showers and Easing Off

It was a big weekend, but for once, it wasn't because of what was happening on the screen. We had a house full of family visiting for the baby shower, which meant the usual betting and trading volume was way down. Honestly? I’m stoked with that.
I’m certain I probably left some money on the table by not turning over my usual volume, but for all that additional effort, the reward wouldn’t have been worth it. It’s not worth the trade-off when it takes time and attention away from family who travelled just to be with us.
This week felt like a trial run for when Bub actually arrives in a few weeks. I’m learning that it is OKAY to take time out, to wind down the stakes, and to only do what you can manage. I was up early in the week, placed my core bets, and then barely pressed anything of significance over the weekend.
I just enjoyed the moment. I wasn't sneaking off to bathrooms to check scores, I was just able to be. For the first time in a long time, I was completely okay with walking away. It’s part of that shift I talked about last week, relying more on intuition and being less of a slave to a rigid, "perfect" routine.
The Numbers: Quality Over Quantity
Despite the lower volume, the week was a success. In terms of the actual statistics, I ended the week with a profit of $975. That’s a solid result considering my total staked was sub $3k, less than half of my normal weekly average.
We started the week strong prior to family arriving, nailing the Manly, Canberra, and Dolphins games across Thursday and Friday.

Saturday and Sunday were spent just turning over small sums for negligible results. I even threw on a Saturday Multi ($122.40) and a Sunday Multi ($230.00) just to get the itch out of my system with small stakes, exactly like I planned.
Moving Forward
The takeaway here is simple: when life gets busy, take the time out and enjoy it. The markets aren't going anywhere.
The only other lesson I'm taking into Week 13 is that it’s time to be brave. The NRL has never been this volatile, and in this game, volatility equals opportunity.
Simplify the process. Near enough is good enough.
See you next week.
